“Racism is evil and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis and white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.” –Hillary Clinton
*Editorial update: The statement above was actually Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton. I apologize to any liberals who supported the statement, but were subsequently forced to suddenly disagree with the statement due to the change in signatory, even though there's absolutely no change in the statement itself. This statement clearly proves President Donald Trump’s sympathetic feelings towards white supremacy. I mean, evil, thugs, and repugnant to American values are words people use to show their loyalty towards a movement, right?
But to make matters even worse is that Evangelical celebrity Jerry Falwell Jr, President of the largest Christian university in the world, Liberty University, tweeted his support for Trump's statements!
Falwell's evident support for white supremacy as the epitome of American values has caused a stir among students and alumni of his megachurch university.
Once again some alumni of Liberty University are returning their college diplomas to the prominent Evangelical institution, in protest of Falwell’s support for Trump’s bigoted remarks. An NPR report identified Chris Gaumer, LU '06, as one alumni who will be returning his diploma.
"I'm sending my diploma back because the president of the United States is defending Nazis and white supremacists...And in defending the president's comments, Jerry Falwell Jr. is making himself and, it seems to me, the university he represents, complicit."
Gaumer, who served as student body president during his tenure at Liberty, contacted approximately 6,000 students and alumni of LU asking them to complete a survey of whether they felt complicit in Falwell's support for Trump. Of the 6,000 contacted, only 5,000 took the time to complete the one-question survey, and of the 5,000 surveyed, only 105 answered "yes."
*Editorial update: Turns out there was no survey. Gaumer texted 10 like-minded friends and asked them to return their diplomas. So far 8 have replied to the text, and of the 8 who replied, 4 have agreed to return their diplomas.
As a means of eradicating their association with Liberty University, this zealous squad of social justice warriors has also agreed to return all institutional scholarship money they received from their alma mater, all academic/athletic awards, and will be eliminating any LU degrees from their resumes.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Liberty's accrediting organization, has been dumfounded by alumni calling in demanding an annulment with their alma mater.
"We typically only expunge records that were falsified. But if students truly want their records expunged, we will be forced to contact their employers and let them know that the degree which earned them their job actually doesn't exist...because the student wishes to imagine it doesn't." -SACS Represetivuve
According to Falwell, the refunded scholarship money will be used to erect a safe-zone for students wishing to escape brutal cultural narratives and simply find peace in therapeutic practices.
"As a means of providing a secure area for students who feel triggered, I am proud to announce Liberty's new indoor-gun range, "Trump's Targets & Triggers," that these funds have so graciously helped to construct."
